Bellevue Botanical Gardens

With 300,000 visitors a year, the garden is one of the city’s most popular destinations – the perfect place for a quiet moment to enjoy the beauty of the Northwest. Docents offer guided tours, providing details about the plants and displays. The Bellevue Botanical Garden opened in 1992 and thrives because of strong community support, including a partnership between the city and the Bellevue Botanical Garden Society (BBGS). Many of the links below will take you to the BBGS web page.

I recently visited the Bellevue Botanical Garden during my photography class. I was skeptical about going during the winter, however, it was still very peaceful wandering around. Great place to practice photography as well! I'm really excited to check it out in the spring and will definitely make the drive over from Seattle again. There's also plenty of free parking and it's free to enter the garden. The restrooms are clean and the grounds are well maintained. The suspension bridge is really cool to walk across. Take a picnic with you when the weather gets warmer and enjoy our beautiful PNW nature!

This garden is a sanctuary inside the city of Bellevue. There's always new features and exhibits always popping up. My favorite places in the garden are the Yao Garden, a Japanese style garden, and the Ravine Experience, a suspension bridge that crosses the ravine. In summertime, there's always something blooming in the perennial corner. The longest loop around the garden is a little under a mile with a few mild hills, so great for a quick stroll or jog. The garden is never too crowded with plenty of parking. Most exhibits have QR codes so you can find out what you're looking at with your phone. The visitor center is also new, though it's never seems to be open when I'm there. In the winter make sure to come for the Garden d'Lights where they light up the garden with a winter/holiday display.
